Human Sexuality
- We believe that God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity be engaged in outside of a marriage between a man and a woman. We believe that any form of homosexuality, lesbianism, bisexuality, bestiality, incest, fornication, adultery, and pornography are sinful perversions of God’s gift of sex. We believe that God disapproves of and forbids any attempt to alter one’s gender by surgery or appearance. (Genesis 2:24, 19:5, 13, 26:8-9; Leviticus 18:1-30; Romans 1: 26-29; 1 Corinthians 5:1; 6:9; 1 Thessalonians 4:1-8; Hebrews 13:4)
- We believe that the only legitimate marriage is the joining of one man and one woman. (Genesis 2:24; Romans 7:2; 1 Corinthians 7:10; Ephesians 5:22-23)
- In keeping with our beliefs regarding human sexuality as expressed in this statement of faith and in keeping with our purpose as expressed in Section 1.02, we have the following practical policies:
- All people are welcome to attend our regular worship services
- Those who attend may not display behavior that is indicative of the sinful behaviors listed in this section in church services, at church functions, and on the church grounds.
- Church representatives are not to display overt disrespect for those who are involved in the sinful behaviors listed in this section.
- The pastor of the church will preach consistently against all forms of sinful behavior as listed in this section, as well as other sinful behaviors.
Family Relationships
- We believe that men and women are spiritually equal in position before God but that God has ordained distinct and separate spiritual functions for men and women in the home and in the church. The husband is to be the leader of the home, and men are to be the leaders (pastors and deacons) of the church. Accordingly, only men are eligible for licensure and ordination by the church. (Galatians 3:28; Colossians 3:18; 1 Timothy 2:8-15; 3:4-5, 12)
- We believe that God has ordained the family as the foundational institution of human society. The husband is to love his wife as Christ loves the church. The wife is to submit herself to the Scriptural leadership of her husband as the church submits to the headship of Christ. Children are an heritage from the Lord. Parents are responsible for teaching their children spiritual and moral values and leading them, through consistent lifestyle example and appropriate discipline, including Scriptural corporal correction. (Genesis 1:26-28; Exodus 20:12; Deuteronomy 6:4-9; Psalm 127:3-5; Proverbs 19:18; 22:15; 23:13-14; Mark 10:6-12; 1 Corinthians 7:1-16; Ephesians 5:21-33; 6:1-4, Colossians 3:18-21; Hebrews 13:4; 1 Peter 3:1-7)
Salvation
STEP ONE:
RECOGNIZE YOUR CONDITION
One of the hardest things for us to admit is when we are lost. My wife calls this “pride.” In order to find the way to eternal life with God, we must first admit that we are lost in sin.
Romans 5:12 teaches that, since Adam and Eve—the first man and woman on earth—there has been a sin nature in all people.
Romans 3:23
“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.”
Sin is any act contrary to God’s laws and commandments. Because of the sins we have committed, we are separated from God.
Romans 6:23
“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
The payment for our sin is spiritual death and eternal separation from God.
STEP TWO:
RELIGION ISN’T THE ANSWER
Many religions attempt to create their own path to God. While these systems may seem logical, they cannot bridge the gap created by our sin.
Proverbs 14:12
“There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.”
Our thoughts and ideas cannot save us. Only God’s truth can show us the way.
Ephesians 2:8–9
“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”
Salvation is not something we earn. It is a gift from God.
STEP THREE:
WE’VE GOT GOOD NEWS
Even though we were lost and separated from God, He loved us.
Because of His love, God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the Cross for our sins and was raised from the dead three days later.
John 3:16
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
Through Jesus’ death and resurrection, He became the payment for our sin.
Romans 5:8
“But God commendeth [meaning demonstrated] his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
STEP FOUR:
BELIEVE AND RECEIVE JESUS CHRIST
To have a relationship with God and an eternal home in Heaven, we must stop trusting in ourselves, our works, or religion. Instead, we place our full trust in Jesus Christ alone.
Romans 10:13
“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
God promises that if you come to Him, confess that you are a sinner, ask Him to forgive your sins, and trust Him alone to be your Saviour, He will save you and give you eternal life.
A Prayer You Can Pray
I know that I am separated from you because of sin.
I confess that in my sin, I cannot save myself.
Right now, I turn to you alone to be my Saviour.
I ask you to save me from the penalty of my sin, and I trust you to provide eternal life to me.
In Jesus’ name, amen.
We Would Love to Help You Grow
